Answer : The answer to this question varies depending on the situation. I did check my TV's settings after I found the remote and under Picture there was an Advanced Settings section where I could turn off Overscan and then the size of my desktop display area within Windows shrinks slightly. Was this reply helpful? Yes No.

I actually had this question the other day and could not find the answer in the Microsoft Community questions and answers section. I figured it out though on my own after a bit of digging, so I am going to ask this question and then answer it for all those others who may run into this problem.
Question : I did an upgrade install of Windows 7 Ultimate version to Windows 10 Pro keeping no old settings or programs; basically a new clean install. After the set-up and installation completed my Windows desktop was larger than the actual screen size so that the taskbar and desktop icons were slightly off screen.
At the time I could not find the remote to access the TV menu to adjust the picture settings for the TV so I had to find another way. This thread is locked. Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Kind Regards, Elise. I see you have marked this as not resolving your issue, have you already tried this step? Can I provide further assistance? Hi Elsie, Thank you kindly for the suggestion, but if you read my question and answer closely I was NOT trying to adjust my screen resolution or alter the size of my text.
My issue was specifically with the size of my Windows desktop appearing larger than the actual size of my monitor's screen so that parts of it went past the visible area. I did try adjusting my resolution, but it had no effect on my problem beyond making all my icons and text larger; parts of the desktop still went beyond where I could see them.
I wrote up the question and answer to try and provide users with the same concern a working solution. Perhaps in the future, you may be directing other community members who need help to my post! I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful weekend. Flash D. No problem, please let me know if you need any further assistance. I will do that. This site in other languages x.
